Simple Brownie Torte
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Glaze -
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp corn syrup
1 tsp vanilla
Sliced strawberries for garnish (optional)
Butter and flour a 9" round cake pan
In a sauce pan heat butter and corn syrup until butter is melted. Stir
in chocolate chips until melted.
Add sugar and eggs, stir until well blended
Stir in vanilla, flour and nuts.
Pour into the cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until
the center springs back when touched.
Cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn out onto a rack.
For the glaze -
Combine chocolate chips, butter and corn syrup in a sauce pan. Stir
over low heat until chocolate is melted.
Remove from heat and add the vanilla.
Forst the top and sides of torte. Chill until set, add sliced
strawberries.
Cut into wedges and serve.
Add whipped cream if desired.
